Starting Pay: $24.07/hr (Offers are based on years of experience and equity for this role.
Location: WISSM Health Dean Medical Group 1211 Fish Hatchery Rd Will travel between four sites
Requirement:
One year Spanish medical interpreting experience
Certified Medical Interpreter:
The National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters
Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreting (CCHI)
Job Summary:
Acts as a liaison between English and limitedEnglish speaking guests staff and patients/families by providing oral interpretation (LIMITED) written translation services as well as staff education and training. Provides support and serves as a resource for other department functions.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interprets for patients families and staff in a variety of clinical and nonclinical settings. Forms of interpreting may include face to face telephonic and video remote interpreting.
- Complies with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.
- Provides (LIMITED) translation of written documents correspondence and patient education materials.
- Assists in explaining language access requirements/obligations and the cultural needs of diverse patient populations.
- Assists in the orientation and onboarding of new members of the regional language services team.
- Trains employees on regulatory requirements and the use of interpreter services through formal and informal training.
- Coordinates prioritizes and organizes daily activities to ensure effective support is provided to the staff and patients.
- Actively participates in department workgroups and improvement initiatives.
- Strictly adheres to the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care and the Interpreters Code of Ethics.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
EXPERIENCE
- Oneyear experience
- Spanish language
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 025 lbs.
- Frequent sitting standing walking reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near 20 inches or less) and far 20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms malfunctioning machinery etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending stooping kneeling squatting twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 2550 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
