  • Requirement:

  • One year Spanish medical interpreting experience

  • Certified Medical Interpreter:

  • The National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters

  • Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreting (CCHI)

Job Summary:

Acts as a liaison between English and limitedEnglish speaking guests staff and patients/families by providing oral interpretation (LIMITED) written translation services as well as staff education and training. Provides support and serves as a resource for other department functions.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interprets for patients families and staff in a variety of clinical and nonclinical settings. Forms of interpreting may include face to face telephonic and video remote interpreting.
  • Complies with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.
  • Provides (LIMITED) translation of written documents correspondence and patient education materials.
  • Assists in explaining language access requirements/obligations and the cultural needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Assists in the orientation and onboarding of new members of the regional language services team.
  • Trains employees on regulatory requirements and the use of interpreter services through formal and informal training.
  • Coordinates prioritizes and organizes daily activities to ensure effective support is provided to the staff and patients.
  • Actively participates in department workgroups and improvement initiatives.
  • Strictly adheres to the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care and the Interpreters Code of Ethics.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience


EXPERIENCE

  • Oneyear experience
  • Spanish language

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 025 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting standing walking reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near 20 inches or less) and far 20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms malfunctioning machinery etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending stooping kneeling squatting twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 2550 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
