Job Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the County Environmental Health Lead will be to provide inspection/permitting/consultation for compliance with state rules and regulations for the Jones County Environmental Health Program for the following facilities within the county: Food Service Public Swimming Pools Tourist Accommodations and Body Art. In addition the person hired for this position will provide services within the Wastewater Management Well Water Pool Emergency Preparedness and other environmental health programs as well as investigate all assigned healthrelated complaints received. Salary will be adjusted based on prior Environmental Health experience and degree of education.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Experience for EHSI EHSII or EHSIII:Completion of a bachelors degree at an accredited fouryear college or university which included the completion of 40 quarter hours (or 27 semester hours) in laboratory sciences (e.g. chemistry biology geology physics etc.; valid drivers license

Additional Experience Required for EHS II:one year of fulltime professionallevel environmental health experience equivalent to an Environmental Health Specialist I.

Additional Experience Required for EHS III: two years of fulltime professionallevel environmental health experience equivalent to an Environmental Health Specialist II.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR EHS II and III. Applicants considered for EHSII and EHSIII positions will be ranked and offered interviews according to the qualifications they already possess. Proof of completion must be provided.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree diploma licensure etc.
