Job Description
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Dickson is accepting applications for the fulltime position of Welding Technology Associate Instructor for the Dickson Campus.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.
- Three 3 years of fulltime experience in the welding field within the last five 5 years.
- Must possess all required certifications for the field or the ability to become certified within three 3 calendar months. CWE and CWI certifications a plus.
- Must possess computer skills.
- Strong handson technical background in field of instruction.
- Must possess a high degree of knowledge in the following areas: shielded metal arc (STICK) gas metal arc (MIG) tungsten inert gas (TIG) and flux cored arc welding; symbols and blueprint reading; cutting techniques; grinding; metal preparation; metallurgy; layout; fabrication; power tools; and measurement techniques.
- Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adult students.
SKILLS
- Must show evidence of good character mature attitude and stable personality.
- Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
- Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students faculty staff the general public and business/industry representatives.
- Must be willing and able to perform administrative duties in an accurate and timely manner.
GENERAL DUTIES: The Welding Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing inperson individualized theory and handson instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. Areas of instruction include shielded metal arc (STICK) gas metal arc (MIG) tungsten inert gas (TIG) and flux cored arc welding; symbols and blueprint reading; cutting techniques; grinding; metal preparation; metallurgy; layout; fabrication; power tools; and measurement techniques. The Associate Instructor must monitor grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the colleges student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates. The Associate Instructor must maintain good public relations with business and industry participate in advisory committee efforts and cooperate with outside agencies. This position will also supervise and followup on students participating in cooperative education. Some travel may be required. This position is fulltime and reports to the Vice President of Academics and Compliance. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Scheduled class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is not a remote work position.
SALARY: $50142$60171 per year $25.71$30.86 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and related experience.
