SUMMARY
As a member of the Advanced Technology group the Project Engineer supports the Chief Engineer and Program Manager with planning organization implementation integration and completion of assigned engineering projects. This position is located in Cape Canaveral Florida and reports into the Vice President Advanced Technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in identifying requirements participate in or coordinate design and test activities plan and oversee integration and test activities and support operations during flight
Write complex specifications and interface control documents
Directly interfacing with external customer technical representatives as well as with members of the internal engineering team and program management
Support trade studies develop documentation review and evaluate products developed by engineering team members subcontractors or partners and support new business development activities
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 35 years of experience with mechanical and/or electrical design of aerospace or robotic systems
Bachelors of Science degree in Aerospace Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related STEM field
Masters degree is a plus
Must be knowledgeable in spacecraft systems subsystems and payload design and mission operations and be able to quickly develop subject matter expertise in a specific project
Practical experience in one or more of the following: avionics or payload electronics design optical systems design telecommunications system design electrical power systems thermal analysis or integration and testing of aerospace systems
Mechanical design experience with complex mechanisms involving gear trains springs machined components welded structures electric motors and solenoids preferred
Demonstrated experience with spacecraft operations and related ground systems
Previous technical lead and/or project management experience
Selfstarter who works with a sense of urgency
Ability to adapt to change in an entrepreneurial environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
Proficient in using various analysis engineering tools such as Autodesk Altium or MATLAB
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations under ITAR and EAR applicant must be a U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (Green Card holder)
Final candidate must pass a background investigation that may include employment verification criminal check education check drug screening credit check and/or driving record check depending on the position
