Job Description

    Position Overview

    The function of this position is to conduct chemical physical and optical tests on raw and finished titanium dioxide pigment and its process streams and to similarly test paints and plastics made from finished pigment.12hour rotating shifts to include nights and weekend. Also ensures the operation of the plant in an environmentally responsible manner in compliance with the Environmental Policy. This position is part of the Safety Health Environmental and Quality department reporting directly to the Quality Laboratory Lead.     The successful candidate will be expected to:

    • Perform chemical physical and optical tests on raw and finished titanium dioxide pigment and its process streams and to similarly test paints and plastics made from finished pigments.
    • Perform required work without injury to self others the environment or physical surroundings.
    • Judge the acceptability of test results to determine the need for repeat analysis or additional sampling.
    • Record and report results of assigned tests.
    • Compositing finished pigment samples.
    • Prepare solutions used in the testing of raw and finished pigment.
    • Conduct safety meetings.
    • Perform required work and paperwork in support of ISO activity.
    • Consistently applies Outward Mindset Principles & Tools

    Physical Requirements

    • Must have no facial hair that interferes with the sealing surface of a respirator which would include hair below the top lip (such as beards goatees or excessive sideburns).
    • Regularly perform repetitive motions involving hands and wrists and occasionally remaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
    • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders stairs scaffolding ramps etc. and operating machinery and/or power tools.
    • Constantly communicating with others to exchange information and assessing the accuracy neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
    • Occasionally working in outdoor weather conditions noisy environments and with environmental hazards.
    • Occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree required; Natural science degree preferred.
    • 3 years manufacturing experience preferred.
    • Deductive reasoning and analytical skills required.
    • Related laboratory experience is preferred.
    • Exceptional human relations skills required.
    • Internal candidates must have a MX or above on most recent evaluation and no active corrective action documentation
