Job Description

Summary:
The CT Technologist provides imaging services throughout Radiation Oncology Services defined as computed tomography imaging at our Atrium Medical Center clinic location.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday 8:00am 4:30pm
No evenings weekends or holidays!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs diagnostic CT procedures on patients utilizing ionizing radiation producing equipment;
  • Acquire patients chart data/requisition and reviews both to determine correct room setup and learn of any specific medical problems contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered
  • Verifies the patients demographic data is correct in all applicable systems;
  • Checks and prepares patients prior to CT study;
  • Educate patients regarding procedure equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation;
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations;
  • Performs VNA punctures as necessary and maintains competencies;
  • Maintains all aspects of the CT area to ensure proper quality assurance results.
  • Knowledgeable in acquiring archiving transmitting and printing images when applicable;
  • Observes potential equipment dysfunctions and reports problems to appropriate individuals;
  • Maintains available equipment uptime at the highest level for patient accessibility;
  • Will have responsibilities for supplies equipment operations and related duties;
  • May assist with scheduling of patients as needed;
  • Works under the scope of practice and in accordance to certificate/licensure in the administration of medications operation of technical equipment;
  • Follow all health care privacy and safety rules and adheres to Dayton Physicians Core Values;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Not applicable
Required Education and/ or Experience:
  • Requires a High school diploma;
  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology;
  • Certification in CT;
  • Requires 3 5 years previous CT experience;
  • CPR certification required.
General Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience working with a Practice Management system.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position to provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external stakeholders.
Physical/ Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to assist patients reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand walk and sit. The position requires regular lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Environmental/ Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Patient care and nonpatient care environments requiring frequent contact with office staff and physicians. Work may be stressful at times. The employee is exposed to radiation fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals and personal protection is required. Radiation exposure will be monitored by film badge for exposure.
