Duties And Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification. Essential functions include the following: 1. Teach classes as assigned from the regular Ethnic Studies Department curriculum. 2. Assist in curriculum assessment and revisions and new course development. 3. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours. 4. Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies and curricula. 5. Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Masters or above in the ethnic studies field OR a Masters or above in American Studies/Ethnicity Latino Studies La Raza Studies Central American Studies Latin American Studies Cross Cultural Studies Race and Ethnic Relations Asian American Studies or AfricanAmerican Studies OR the equivalent (see below) OR Masters or above in the interdisciplinary area OR Masters or above in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area and upper division or graduate course work in at least one other constituent discipline Demonstrated cultural competence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff
