Job Description

We are looking for a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) within the Emergency Department you will be practising under supervision with a focus upon the provision of patientcentered quality care. The ACP (adult) role encompasses the assessment examination diagnosis treatment and referral / discharge of adult patients presenting with undifferentiated conditions.

As a trainee the post holder will work under supervision within an agreed scope of practice and will be expected to ensure high standards of evidence based care. The training will involve the completion of a formal Advanced Clinical Practitioner programme at the centre of which is the competency framework detailed by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.

Qualifications :

Essential

  • Current NMC or professional body registration.
  • For the tACP (adult) role within the ED the candidate must have completed a recognized autonomous practitioner program of study in at least one field of emergency care (e.g. minors majors or paramedic specialist practitioner) and have been working in the role of an autonomous practitioner for a minimum of two years at band 6. There should be demonstrable evidence of role consolidation.
  • Evidence of ability to work at Masters level and willingness to complete a Masters degree.
  • Immediate Life Support Qualification as minimum (preferably ALS).
  • 5 years acute care experience within area of specialism.
  • Service improvement skills.
  • Mentorship qualification.

Desirable

  • ALS / APLS / ATLS or equivalent.
  • Masters Degree / Masters level university modules.
  • NonMedical Independent Prescriber.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • History taking and physical assessment skills.
  • Knowledge pertaining to pathophysiology and clinical diagnostics.
  • Experience of audit.
  • Experience of appraisal of others.
  • Interest in clinical research.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification.
  • Previous publication(s).

Personal qualities

Essential

  • Evidence of multidisciplinary team working and ability as a team player.
  • Evidence of supporting others development.
  • Competent and confident approach to practice.
  • Leadership skills.

Desirable

  • Leadership qualification
