Who are we looking for

We are looking for a confident individual with a positive outlook and a can do attitude who are aspiring to build their experience and progress at M&G.

A successful candidate is someone who is self motivated capable of building and maintaining relationships naturally curious and work effectively as part of a team. A powerful desire to learn and keen interest in Operational Resilience.

The applicant would ideally have an inquisitive nature and be curious. The successful applicant should feel confident to use their own initiative and work alone where required with an aspiration to want to learn and progress.

The Role

An exciting opportunity to join The Operational Resilience team. The this team is part of our Life function which is part of the Risk and Remediation team reporting into the Life Chief Operating Officer. The aim is to protect the life businesses customers employees and reputation when a disruption occurs.

The team ensures the right processes and procedures are in place and support the business units so they can respond and recover from any disruption. The team will also oversee thirdparties resilience standards.

What will you be doing

As an Operational Resilience Apprentice daily duties include:

  • Supporting the team and the business units in business continuity planning which include identifying their critical processes and recovery strategies
  • Supporting scenario testing to ensure recovery strategies are fit for purpose
  • Managing internal customers queries
  • Training and Awareness on the importance of resilience to colleagues in the life business
  • Attending thirdparties resilience oversight meetings
  • Support delivery of our resilience maturity journey
  • Engagement with operational resilience experts in other areas of M&G
  • Developing knowledge of the regulatory requirements on operational resilience
  • Learn how to have effective risk management in place and how resilience risks are identified assessed managed and reported.

What will I need to be successful in this role

  • Confident communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders with ease.
  • Ability to manage processes and coordinating with different people.
  • Strong customer service awareness.
  • Empathy and good listening skills.
  • Efficient proactive structured approach to work and very well organized.
  • High level of accuracy and good attention to detail.
  • Can effectively manage day to day work alongside apprenticeship qualification.
  • Moderate understanding of the MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
  • A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required.
  • Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence passion and a drive to learn.

Minimum Requirements

  • Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2025
  • You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme
  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK
  • Living in Scotland
  • Pass in Five National 5s including English and Maths
  • Minimum of Grade C in Two Highers or equivalent

Training Provided

As a Operational Resilience Apprentice with M&G you will undertake the Business Administration SCQF Level 6 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning prerecorded lectures and face to face inductions and masterclasses

Future Prospects

This is a fixed term contract for 18 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain subject to the Apprentice performance headcount and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.

Salary

22900 per annum plus benefits
