Nucor s Longview facility depends on accurate timely and safetydriven quality control to keep operations running at peak performance. As a Quality Technician your mission is to safeguard product integrity by conducting thorough inspections and realtime audits. You ll be the final checkpoint ensuring our steel meets the highest performance and compliance standards. Success in this role means becoming the goto resource for quality decisions helping your team deliver with confidence and precision.


Performance Objectives What you ll accomplish in your first 12 months

  • Perform nondestructive testing (NDT) including ultrasonic and visual inspections to validate material quality and compliance with AWS welding codes and customer specifications.

  • Audit document and maintain calibration standards across testing equipment to ensure continuous process integrity.

  • Lead quality support on the shop floor by identifying issues coordinating resolution efforts and improving workflow efficiency.

  • Report findings using ERP systems generating clear timely inspection reports aligned with production timelines.

  • Complete UT Level 2 certification or recertification if applicable within the first 6 months (if not already held).

  • Maintain a safetyfirst work environment contributing to teamwide accountability for clean compliant workspaces.

Requirements

  • Must have served in the U.S. Army U.S. Navy U.S. Marine Corps U.S. Air Force U.S. Coast Guard U.S. Space Force U.S. Reserves or U.S. National Guard.

  • 5 years in manufacturing or steel industry preferred.

  • Knowledge of Visual and Ultrasonic Testing practices and equipment.

  • Familiarity with AWS welding codes.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Comfortable working rotating shifts including nights weekends and holidays.

  • ERP system experience is a plus.

Must have served in U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Reserves or U.S. National Guard. NCO/Supervisor who is a well-rounded technician. Will supervise one person and be hands on for now. Strong communications and ability to think outside the box.
