FixedTerm Maternity Cover
We have an exciting opportunity for midwifery clinicians and/or academics to join an established team of Midwifery educators at Birmingham City University (BCU). This post is to cover maternity leave and will allow the successful applicant to experience midwifery education supporting students on their journey to become midwives. You would contribute primarily to the expanding midwifery education portfolio and there are opportunities to participate in short courses such as AEquip and Examination of the Newborn (NIPE) if you have the appropriate qualifications to do so.
You would be joining an established very supportive team of midwives who are dedicated to educational excellence allowing students to meet the national and international requirements of midwifery in the dynamic world of midwifery. If successful we will support you to facilitate the scholarship and clinical proficiency of midwifery students across the various curricula. We have established international partnerships and have developed global educational opportunities for students to participate in. You would be working in close partnership with practice placement partners supporting undergraduate and Masters students to become the midwives of the future. You would gain experience in quality assurance so that we ensure students qualifying from BCU meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and are ready for the continuing journey in the global world of midwifery.
Role
It is essential that you have current registration with the NMC as a midwife and you are required to be educated to a degree level or above in midwifery or a relevant subject area. Knowledge of midwifery practice is essential so you will have at least 12 months postqualification clinical experience in maternity care. Please see the Job description for details of the roles of lecturer at BCU.
Though not essential the team would welcome applications from midwives with a current recognised qualification as a Newborn and Infant Physical Examiner (NIPE) and /or qualified AEquip practitioner Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement NHS England).
