Job Description

SUMMARY

As a member of the Advanced Technology group the Spacecraft Flight Operations Engineer will be responsible for the development and definition of the mission control concept of operations control center displays content and user interfaces and operational procedures that will support the companys planned lunar orbiter and lunar lander missions. The incumbent will support the design and development of the Moon Express Mission Control Center development of processes and procedures required for specific missions and act as a Flight Controller during missions. This position is located in Cape Canaveral Florida and reports into the Vice President Advanced Technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become familiar with Moon Express spacecraft design capabilities and ground operations
  • Collect operational requirements from each subsystem and develop related procedures
  • Define content of mission control displays and command user interfaces
  • Define mission control operational procedures for nominal and contingency cases
  • Configure mission control displays/command user interfaces
  • Develop automated scripts to support mission operations
  • Prepare for and participate in simulations in support of ground systems integration and testing
  • Develop mission sequences and detailed spacecraft operations plans for specific missions
  • Develop automated scripts to support specific missions
  • Prepare for and participate in mission rehearsal simulations
  • Conduct mission specific real time spacecraft/satellite flight operations
  • Analyze and report on spacecraft and ground systems performance during flight
  • Support anomaly investigation and failure analyses

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with onorbit spacecraft operations and related ground systems
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field
  • Masters of Science degree in Aerospace Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field an asset
  • Familiarity with satellite subsystems
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics including Keplerian elements
  • Basic understanding of C and Python scripting
  • Experience in design of spacecraft control interfaces and/or procedures
  • Selfstarter who works with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to adapt to change in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations under ITAR and EAR applicant must be a U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (Green Card holder)
  • Final candidate must pass a background investigation that may include employment verification criminal check education check drug screening credit check and/or driving record check depending on the position
