Job Description

Posting Summary
Research Assistant to synthesize purify and characterize specialty ionic liquids. The successful candidate will hold at least an Associates Degree and be a continuing student majoring in Chemistry or Biology. Job Duties: 1. Synthesis of functionalized imidazolium pyrrolidinium and other types of specialty ionic liquids bearing sulfonylimide and other anions. 2. Purification of ionic liquids using standard organic procedures. 3. Structure confirmation of ionic liquids using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy. 4. Water content determination of ionic liquids using Karl Fischer Titration. 5. Measurement of temperature dependent viscosity and conductivity of ionic liquids. 6. Measurement of density. 7. Measurement of thermal profiles using Differential Scanning Calorimetry. 8. Maintaining a laboratory notebook with records of all procedures observations and results. 9. Compiling data and delivering oral and poster presentations at local and national scientific meetings. 10. Write up of all experimental procedures results and analyses for publication in peerreviewed journals. Hiring for multiple positions.
