POSITION PURPOSE:

Charlotte Country Day School an independent coeducational day school located in Charlotte NC is currently recruiting for a CrossCountry Program Head/Head Varsity Coach (Boys and Girls) to begin work with the Fall 2025 season. This is a parttime yearround position with hours varying according to season. Summer workouts will begin in June; Fall season will begin on Monday July 28th. The season concludes in October after the NCISAA Sate Championship. Previously this position also served as an assistant coach for Indoor Track & Field and Spring Track & Field. The daily work schedule will vary slightly according to specific team practice and competition schedules but will generally be focused on a 36pm time slot MondayFriday. Weekend work is occasionally required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The CrossCountry Program Head/Varsity Head Coach will join an athletic program that includes 26 varsity sports most of which have both junior varsity and middle school counterparts. The crosscountry program includes a varsity and middle school team. The CrossCountry Program Head/Varsity Head Coach is directly responsible for coaching the varsity team as well as for the oversight and coordination of the entire program. Specific responsibilities include:

• Supervision and instruction of varsity CrossCountry studentathletes during all team activities.
• Development of a longterm crosscountry program vision plan and teaching curriculum.
• Ongoing hiring management and evaluation of CrossCountry program coaching staff.
• Development and oversight of the programs budget.
• Development of practice and competition schedules including summer activities.
• Instruct players in the rules regulations equipment and technique of the sport.
• Plan and organize tryouts practices and meet operations.
• Maintenance and upkeep of programs equipment technology and apparel.
• Regular communication with team parents/athletics program staff regarding program activities.
• Organizes and directs individuals and small group practices/exercises.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an athletes injury.
• Models sportslike behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players officials and spectators.
• Participates in special activities to include parents night and end of season team gathering.
• Regular communication with team parents and athletics program staff regarding team activities.
• Attendance at required team and interscholastic athletics program meetings.
• Support of multisport participation for studentathletes.
• Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for studentathletes.
• Compliance with all Charlotte Country Day School Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association and North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association policies and procedures.
• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics Head of School or other appropriate administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates must have significant experience coaching at the high school club or collegiate level. Candidates must exhibit enthusiasm for the role of athletics in an independent school setting vision and creativity strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work in a teamoriented environment. Additionally candidates must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and must possess or obtain prior to the start of their season current First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
