Job Description

Operating Mechanic Millwright

AV Group NB Inc. is an exciting and innovative company operating two pulp mills in NB. Both mills produce dissolving grade pulp for the unique global market of viscos fibre.

AV Group NB Inc. is currently recruiting for Operating Mechanics Millwright in the Maintenance Department.

Role Overview:

Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor and ultimately the Mechanical Superintendent the successful candidate will work within a crew to execute daily maintenance activities and/or capital and major maintenance projects internal to the Nackawic Mill.

Description of Duties:

  • Attend pre and postshift crew meetings with Supervisor daily;
  • Execute scheduled maintenance daily and assist with breakins as tasked;
  • Work closely with operational groups to support the daily plant requirements;
  • Complete Preventative maintenance checks and work orders as assigned;
  • Work on capital and/or major maintenance projects if so assigned;
  • Recommend improvements to procedures practices & plans as part of continuous improvement;
  • Respond to callins as required;
  • Able to work at heights and in confined spaces;
  • Work safely at all times while using required PPE per Health and Safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications Skills & Abilities:

  • A minimum of a Grade 12 Graduation or equivalent;
  • A valid Millwright Journeyman Red Seal Trade certificate is preferred; however apprentices shall be considered based on relevant experience;
  • A minimum of two years relevant work experience is ideal;
  • Despite your usual working hours you will be expected to work the hours necessary to carry out all your responsibilities and expected to be available to work reasonable overtime;
  • Must be selfmotivated results oriented and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fastpaced multidisciplinary team environment;
  • Preference will be given to:
    • Candidates with relevant trade experience with pumps valves hydraulics pneumatics gearboxes conveying systems and compressors;
    • Candidates with certifications & experience in vibration analysis and equipment alignment;
  • Candidates must be able to work safely and promote safety in the workplace;
  • Able to adapt to various work assignments;
  • Successful candidates must show experience to support continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Ability to work as a team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills;
  • The successful candidate must be prepared to continue training and participate in the employers training program.
