Required Education: High School Diploma or GED AND;

  • 24 months of experience in maintenance troubleshooting calibration repair and installation of utility instrumentation and controls.

Equivalence/Substitution: Will accept completion of a twoyear technical trade school in lieu of the required 24 months of experience.

Skills:

  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students faculty and staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work weekends holidays or extended hours to May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel)
  • Ability to use hand tools power tools and metering test equipment

Certifications:

  • Valid Oklahoma Drivers License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical: Ability to use hands and arms in handling installing positioning and moving materials and manipulating things. Able to lift push pull or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted. Uses stairs and ladders. Engage in repetitive motions. Walk and stand for short or extended time periods. Ability to grasp reach twist bend and kneel. Wear appropriate safety equipment.
  • Environmental: Fieldbased and industrial work environment with large machinery. Works outside for long periods in all weather conditions. Exposure to steam low high voltage hazardous chemicals extreme cold extreme heat extreme noise dirt and dust. Possibility of slippery surfaces. Work in confined spaces and on elevated platforms. May be designated as an essential position during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.

Facilities Management is seeking to hire a Instrumentation & Controls Technician within the Utilities division in Facilities Management at the University of Oklahoma. This position will be responsible for the monitoring repairing maintaining and upgrading all instrumentation and controls associated with Utility Services to include commodities production plants wells water towers and several hundred miles of associated underground utility distribution.
