We are looking for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Imaging (Equivalent to Assistant / Associate Professor).

The Opportunity:

The Royal School of Veterinary Studies offers an exciting opportunity for an ECVDI or ACVR board certified or board eligible veterinary radiologist to join our small animal diagnostic imaging team on the modern Easter Bush campus on the outskirts of the Scottish capital.

The diagnostic imaging team currently consists of 3 senior radiologists 4 including this post) 6 imaging residents and 4 radiographers coupled with a radiotherapy service with a dedicated radiation oncologist and technicians.

Our imaging modalities include stateoftheart digital radiography and fluoroscopy several topoftherange ultrasound units 64slice CT a modern scintigraphy unit and a highfieldstrength MRI 1.5T). In addition there is access to a 3T MRI on campus in the Large Animal Research Imaging Facility (LARIF). We have a large array of software packages for special techniques such as contrast enhanced sonography elastography osteodensitometry and perfusion imaging. Our imaging modalities are supported by PACS which will be replaced by a stateoftheart Vendor Neutral Archiving System in 2025.

Our imaging caseload is large and diverse including canine feline and exotic animals. Interest in particular species and imaging modalities can be tailored to. The imaging service works within a multidisciplinary clinical environment with many other veterinary specialists and also with generalists. Research is integrated in theEdinburgh Imaging Community the LARIF and the Roslin Institute which encourage medical & veterinary radiologists scientists and engineers to collaborate. There are many opportunities for veterinary undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

The role requires a 6070 clinical commitment (minimum 26 weeks on clinics) with the remaining working time dedicated to research teaching and other roles. Your skills and attributes for success:

Essential

  • A veterinary graduate with postgraduate experience in Diagnostic Imaging.
  • ECVDI or ACVR board certification or eligibility to sit board exam.
  • Member of (or eligible to become a member of) RCVS.
  • An ability to work alone as service senior and to supervise and instruct students and residents.
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for imaging technology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work within a team.

Desirable

  • Experience in teaching learning and assessment in a veterinary school.
  • Experience in communication with veterinary practitioners.
