Job Description

The Vancouver School Board welcomes applicants for the position of:

Adult Education English Instructor
(Temporary PartTime)

Location:South Hill Education Center

Start Date: April 24th

End Date: June 25th


There are currently 3 positions available:

English Foundations 6
Monday to Friday 9:15am to 11:30am

English Foundations 4 & 5
Monday to Friday 4:00pm to 6:15pm

English Foundations 1 & Speaking & Listening 1/2
Monday to Thursday 7:00pm to 9:30pm

Adult Education provides youth/adult students with educational opportunities from Foundationslevel courses to secondary school completion. We offer a variety of learning formats which include structured Foundations courses (basic literacy through Grade 10 equivalency); structured academic Grade 10 11 and 12 as well as personalized selfpaced courses at the Foundations and Grade 10 11 and 12 levels. Courses at the Foundations level develop core skills which prepare students to enter the Grade 10 11 and 12 courses needed to obtain either the regular or the adult Dogwood Diploma. All courses follow prescribed Ministry of Education curriculum.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts; Major in English
  • Bachelor of Education
  • Recent contract teaching experience and/or student teaching experience in Secondary Englishis required
  • Membership in or eligible to become a member of the Teacher Regulation Board (TRB)
  • Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS)
