Reporting to the Manager Cloud Infrastructure Development I&IT Technology Planning & Delivery is seeking a Senior FinOps Practitioner. This role will be pivotal in reducing cloud costs and optimizing resource utilization. You will collaborate closely with product owners software engineers and application teams to identify and implement costsaving measures ensuring that financial considerations are integrated into the entire software development lifecycle. You will also lead FinOps initiatives working closely with the leadership and engineering teams to develop and implement best practices the organization.
What will I be doing
- Lead and champion FinOps initiatives across the organization.
- Collaborate with product owners software engineers and leadership to identify and implement costsaving opportunities throughout the development lifecycle.
- Design and implement a comprehensive tagging strategy for all Azure resources including detective and reactive controls.
- Develop and enforce cost models budgets and alerts to manage cloud spending proactively.
- Implement robust tagging strategies for all Azure resources to enable granular cost allocation and analysis.
- Analyze cloud costs identify cost drivers and optimize resource utilization to reduce spending (e.g. rightsizing instances utilizing reserved instances leveraging spot instances).
- Develop and implement cost allocation and show back mechanisms to track and allocate costs to different teams products or projects.
- Monitor and analyze cloud spending trends identify anomalies and address potential cost overages proactively.
- Create and maintain dashboards to visualize cloud costs across various dimensions (e.g. by application team project region or time) providing insights into spending trends and identifying areas for optimization.
- Generate regular cost reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
- Use your experience to champion systematic improvements and best practices.
- Regularly contribute to the skills development of team members by introducing new processes running workshops on Azure cost optimization practices
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Bachelors/masters degree in computer science Engineering Networking or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g. FinOps Foundations Certifications)
- Demonstrated years of experience with enterprise cloud platforms in an engineering/ operational/financial management role
- Experience with public cloud cost management and optimization on AWS GCP or Azure
- Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills
- A strong desire to understand how technical cloud infrastructure options impact costs.
- Ability to analyze information identify opportunities and trends develop best practice processes and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership
- You will be a trusted partner to Business Units and Finance in terms of budgeting and forecasting cloud spend
- Ability to build relationships across business lines and departments and positively influence key stakeholders through knowledge transfer expertise recommendations and strategic thinking
- Experience in driving enterprisewide transformation initiatives Strategic thinking with the ability to develop and execute longterm technical roadmaps
- Track record of influencing technical decisions across multiple teams
