SUMMARY:
The Admissions Counselor II Dallas Promise Program will be responsible for raising awareness of East Texas A&M University and the Dallas County Promise program to increase and support student enrollment by cultivating high school highered and other partner relationships across Dallas. Position will serve as primary Dallas County Promise liaison to administrators teachers nonprofits and students within their portfolio. Manage all aspects of program delivery including implementation and troubleshooting conducting site visits managing relationships with school stakeholders training campus staff and data collection and analysis. The position will also be responsible for ensuring the portfolio sites achieve goals related to student service and impact.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Raise Awareness of East Texas A&M University and Dallas County Promise.
- Be the community face for the Dallas County Promise program and represent all college partners
- Support counselors and college advisors in promoting Dallas County Promise opportunity to students and parents
- Plan coordinate and attend required programmatic events for students and parents
- Student Enrollment Support:
- Be proficient in all aspects of the student enrollment and financial aid process especially for ETAMU and the Dallas County Community College District
- Provide college transition counseling in areas including but not limited to: financial aid application process college application process enrollment support college transfers and career development.
- Regularly contact assigned students by phone email online messaging and possible personal meetings to address specific needs and troubleshoot problems.
- Organize and maintain uptodate student information on student progress including milestones and deliverables in databases and physical files
- Ensure students consistently receive highest quality of services that their needs are met and that each student makes satisfactory progress toward program goals
- Assist in coordinating Promise events summer programming and training & development activities that will supplement schoolyear programming.
- Contribute to transition strategies with district and college leaders/staff to ensure students seamless transition from Promise team to higher education partner.
- Cultivate High School Higher Ed and Other Partner Relationships:
- Support community outreach efforts including parent engagement and partner cultivation.
- Conduct research (online via interviews and through site visits) to identify effective practices and present findings in highimpact presentations for differing audiences.
- Work collaboratively with partners to monitor progress overcome obstacles and lead projects to successful outcomes.
- Provide accurate data reports while gathering feedback to update Salesforce efficacy of tools and practices and connect resources where campuses have gaps.
- Participates in educational guidance activities conferences with students and officials from high schools community colleges and other universities (local counselor conferences Mane Event Preview Day Counselor Updates Transfer Workshops etc..
- Keeps abreast of current information about academic programs and related student services opportunities used to guide the student through the enrollment process.
- Communicates competently to all students school and college counselors/advisors information about the Texas Uniform Core Curriculum and the Texas Common Course Numbering System and their respective roles in articulation and course equivalencies.
- Participates with staff in scheduling and conducting recruitment visits and special campus events for all partners and prospective students.
- Collaborates with university faculty staff and students to build and share knowledge to enhance outreach and recruitment efforts.
- Ensures recruitment efforts are in accordance with the prescribed admission policies outlined in the Undergraduate Catalog.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of one 1 year of related experience in advising and recruiting. Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications. Knowledge of admissions functions of higher education. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer services skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive relationships with prospective students and their families.
- Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Ability to communicate information individually in small groups or in formal large group settings Ability to travel to high school and community college day and night programs and other visits throughout Texas is required. Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid drivers license.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Two 2 or more years of experience in an educationfocused nonprofit (including communitybased organizations or institutions of
higher education). Bilingual (Spanish). A demonstrated true curiosity and commitment to finding more effective ways to meet the needs of underserved children. A willingness and desire to engage fully in the challenges and opportunities of assisting students and their parents in successfully pursuing
