Transylvania University () a toptier independent residential liberal arts college in Lexington Kentucky invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Computer Science. This is a tenuretrack position teaching inperson classes beginning August 29 2025. Job Responsibilities:
Applicants from any area of Computer Science are welcome; applicants with an interest in interdisciplinary elements of Computer Science are particularly encouragedTransylvania has several multidisciplinary programs which include Computer Science including Neuroscience Data Science and Digital Arts and Media. Responsibilities include teaching a range of courses in Computer Science that may include Computer Graphics DBMS Networking Discrete Structures and other courses based on the candidates expertise and training. We are looking for applicants who are passionate about attracting and serving historically underrepresented groups in Computer Science. Occasional contributions to FirstYear programing and service as an academic adviser are also expected. The teaching load consists of three courses per semester plus one shortterm course in May 331 that offers additional opportunities for travel courses teamtaught courses and other more experimental classroom endeavors. Other responsibilities include academic scholarship/ professional activity preferably involving undergraduate students and service to the university through various committee appointments. The university also has an excellent faculty development program that competitively funds faculty (and student) scholarly research and artistic projects.
Qualifications:
A terminal degree (PhD preferred) is required by the start will be given to candidates with undergraduate teaching experience particularly within the context of computer candidate must demonstrate a commitment to continuing their own professional work along with a commitment to teaching interdisciplinary dialogue and working collaboratively with other faculty and with students both within the Computer Science Program and across disciplines within a liberal arts environment.
