Apparel Developer

The Developer is responsible for managing the design process from concept to completion developing a product that is trend relevant and aligns with the aesthetic of the Lulus consumer while providing a line that meets the buying teams business objectives and cost parameters. In addition staying up to date on the latest trends influencers and aspirational and competitive landscape for their categories maintaining strong relationships with the vendor community and leading and developing a team of Associate Developers (s).

What Youll Do

• Research and stay up to speed on macro/emerging trends key runway designers and influencers aspirational benchmarks and competitive landscape for their categories and determine relevancy through the Lulus consumer lens.
• 365 Development to ensure an ongoing pipeline of new ideas to maximize sales trends evolve key programs and meet the needs of the business model.
• Operate with a complete understanding of the development process (which may include design engineering precosting and overseas development)
• Responsible for the growth and development of Lulus branded products by proactively managing the development process including private label and exclusive styles
• Partner with Vendor and Production to ensure fabric design details and garments are within cost parameters while providing value to the Lulus consumer.
• Increase in product range and offers:
  • Lead innovation strategy work and direction with vendors for design fabric print/pattern wash and construction for their categories to achieve performance margin targets and retail pricing with an understanding of the Lulus customer
  • Traveling to factories to expand Country of Origin and test new textiles
  • Scout new samples/vendors to recommend products to be sold on Lulus
• Coordinate and monitor prototype samples for fit quality and construction.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors
• Work with Buying on weekly markdowns of slowselling products to understand outdated trends colors and seasonality of the product
• Lead and develop a team of Associate Developers(s)
• Partner with the Planner and Buyer to achieve KPI Targets and budgets.
• Travel as needed.

What Youll Need

• Fashion Design Degree
• 6 years of Womens Design Experience
• 1year managing associate developer or equivalent level
• Experience Designing for Womens Fast Fashion
• Experience in developing and identifying seasonal trends and creating story and mood boards
• Strong understanding of style silhouettes construction techniques color trims fabric/yarn print/pattern and wash
• Ability to create functional appealing and onpoint product designs
• Proven Track Record of Delivering KPI Targets
• Experience in leading a team
• Thorough knowledge of trends and fashion
• Keen understanding of the Lulus Girl
• Ability to filter global trends through the lens of the targeted consumer
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively throughout the organization
• Sense of urgency highly detailed and experience in meeting deadlines
