Background
Birmingham International Academy (BIA) delivers International Foundation Pathways Presessional English and Insessional Academic English programmes for international students studying at the University of Birmingham. Foundation Year programmes are delivered at both the Edgbaston and Dubai Campuses.
BIA sits administratively within Academic Services but has a primary reporting line via the Dean to the ProVice Chancellor International and plays a key role in the Universitys international ambitions. The Academys teaching is researchinformed and staff are encouraged to take part in relevant conferences and CPD training sessions.
Role Summary
The post holder will be working within the Birmingham International Academy (BIA) a unit within the University of Birmingham that provides foundation programmes presessional programmes and insessional modules and short courses to international students whose first language is not English. The Learning Technologist will work closely with the Educational Technologist Manager and the BIA presessional project team in developing Canvas courses for teachers and students supporting both the Foundation Programme and the Insessional Programme. The role will focus on developing online teaching and learning environments within Canvas transferring teacherdeveloped materials to an online format and exploring innovative ways to enhance teaching and learning with technology. The post holder will provide essential input into projects where necessary and undertake additional tasks outlined in the main duties section below.

Dimensions
The Learning Technologist will support the pedagogic transformation of programmes by designing highquality learning content assessments and educational experiences while providing pedagogic advice guidance encouragement and support to teachers administration students and management. The role involves planning designing and developing digital learning environments using Canvas ensuring the effective transition of teaching materials into an engaging online format. Collaboration is key working closely with the various programme teams and project team academic and teaching staff and other stakeholders as well as supporting the BIA programmes. Engaging with colleagues within BIA to enhance teaching and learning is essential. The role also includes reviewing and refining digital content based on stakeholder feedback assessing student engagement and feedback to improve online learning experiences and redeveloping and managing web pages using Contensis software. Additionally the Learning Technologist will provide support for digital content creation guide and support summer staff in using various platforms and report to the Manager of Insessional Programmes and Technology Enhanced Learning. The post holder will take responsibility for the development of digital content across presessional foundation and insessional programmes and will work closely with schools and the Dubai Campus where necessary.
