Job Description

The Radiology Departmentintends to hire for one position at either theImaging Technologist classificationor Senior Imaging Technologist based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Please indicate in your cover letter the position you wish to be considered foror indicate both.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist MRI to perform diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced imaging technology/equipment explain examination procedures to patients and monitor their status and instruct students and staff on examination and equipment operations.

Duties Include:

  • Operate adjust and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic angiographic magnetic resonance systems and multiple modalities of other general diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain operate and troubleshoot and report equipment failures.
  • Instruct trainees students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
  • Explain examination process to patients.
  • Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures
  • Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation I.V. placement vital sign monitoring and recording and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
  • Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
  • Plan daily regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
  • Participate in oncall coverage.
  • Assist with inventory ordering supplies and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital departmental and clinical unit standards.
  • Participate in phantom human and/or animal research.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical developments software updates and related subjects by attending meetings continuing education programs and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
  • Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or subspecialty students on a clinical rotation.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public.

Schedule:Monday through Friday;. This position includes holidays rotations and on call.

Pay Grade: 5
