What you will be doing:
As one of the Utilities Leads within the Central Region Traffic Safety & Utilities (TS&U) Section you will oversee all utilityrelated activities necessary for utility permitting and the development of small to medium sized capital improvement projects that are proposed within the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities managed rightsofway. This includes coordinating efforts of DOT&PF design staff and/or engineering consultants. You will supervise a team of three engineering assistant staff in the Utilities Group.
Following a structured training plan the incumbent will develop proficiency in the full range of utility related and supervisory duties advancing to the Engineer/Architect 2 level.

The working environment you can expect:
This position resides in the DOT&PF Central Region Headquarters building in Anchorage AK located at 4111 Aviation Ave. This building resides on the shores of Lake Hood and is across from the Ted Stevens International Airport. This office building is generally comprised of cubicle office space and organized by departmental sections and teams including the Traffic Safety and Utilities Section in which this position is to be filled. Office hours and schedules have some flexibility and travel to project sites may be required for short durations. Hybrid teleworking is an option upon completion of the mandatory probationary period.
Who we are looking for:
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of:
Engineer/Architect 1
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect.
Note: Positions in this class require professional registration as either an Engineer or an Architect. The employer will designate which professional field is required for each position.
Special Note:
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
Engineer/Architect 2
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect and one year of professional experience as an Engineer/Architect 1 or Engineering Associate with the State of Alaska or the equivalent.
Special Note:
