Key job responsibilities
The AWS WAF and Shield team is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer for a team that develops and globally operates a highly available lowlatency distributed system that powers realtime Layer7 DDoS detections using methods such as behavioral analysis and machine learning and mitigations such as clientside challenges.

Model Amazon Leadership Principles around customers operations inclusion and growth
Design and build large components of the software architecture product or suite with significant business impact
Make architectural and design decisions in partnership with stakeholders
Understand owned products deeply to facilitate technical discussions
Operate the service globally in all AWS regions working with the team
Manage communicate and mitigate risks proactively and build consensus on complex technical and business issues

5 years of noninternship professional software development experience
3 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
Handson experience with Scala and/or Rust

The base salary for this position ranges from $114800/year up to $191800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
