System Development Engineer Amazon Foundational Security Services AFSS

This role is located in Seattle WA.

As a Systems Development Engineer on this team you will collaborate with other experienced and senior software engineers to drive improvements to our technology operate and maintain services and software solutions and build and track metrics to ensure high quality results. This role includes a blend of Amazon and Microsot Entra ID IAM tooling and skillset. Your solutions will help provide the ultimate customer service experience needed to anticipate and resolve customers questions using an automated assistant. You will have the opportunity to work with business partners leadership and other engineers influence and drive product vision and lead the design of our systems.

Key job responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include maintaining the IAM (Identity and Access Management) infra of Amazon. We are using Microsoft Entra ID to provide identity to M365 suite of productivity tooling. The candiate is expected to manage and drive secure configuration and feature in Entra ID tenant with AWS technology being in forefront.

Diagnosing and fixing production issues developing monitoring solutions for IAM services performing software maintenance and configuration.
Implementing the fix for internally developed code (Microsoft DSC GRaph API SCIM Python JAVA) debugging and executing persistence solutions queries updating tracking and resolving technical challenges.
Writing design documents building new IAM solutions to support customer needs.
Responsibilities also include working alongside development on Amazon Corporate and Divisional Software projects updating/enhancing our current software automation of support processes documentation of our systems manage AFSS org level operational cadence and programs.

A day in the life
The systems development engineer in this team spend time:
Automating the worlds most advanced cloud computing infrastructure
Managing and administering Entra ID tenant IAM protocols making secure decisions in application registrations with least privileged roles.
Simplifying and reinventing systems processes and tools to make things better for our customers
Building unique solutions to our customers technical problems using Entra ID and AWS tech stack
Studying and learning from industry recognized Amazon senior and Principal engineers.

Experience in automating deploying and supporting largescale infrastructure

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
