Job Description
Introduction
This is a statewide recruitment for multiple vacancies at multiple Maryland State Police (MSP) Barracks across the State of Maryland. Whenapplying please only check the county/counties (locations) for which you arewilling to accept employment.

LOCATION OF POSITION
There are multiple vacancies located at Maryland State Police (MSP) Barracks across the State of Maryland. Please select only the county/counties (locations) for whichyou are willing to accept employment.
Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Duties include but arenot limited to:
- Monitor and communicate with MSP and other public safety personnel via twoway multichannel radios and maintain required documentation of same;
- Utilize METERS/NCIC/NLETS to obtain update disseminate and accurately transmit information within the Department and to other law enforcement and criminal justice agencies;
- Utilize telephones in a professional manner to provide necessary guidance and information to Departmental personnel and the general public;
- File and maintain METERS/NLETS messages and various required logs associated with the communications center operations;
- Interact with Department personnel allied agencies and the general public;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferencewill be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information onyour application regarding your qualification(s).
- One year of dispatching experience in a 911 (police/emergency) services environment utilizing a CAD (computer aided dispatch) system.
One year of experience in a multifaceted work environment using data entry keyboard functions and a multiline telephone system. A combination of one year of emergency dispatch training education and/or experience.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. In accordance withSection 2204(b)6 of the Public Safety Article candidates for position inthis classification will be subject to an initial drug screening and a completecriminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination beforepermanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds forrejection of the candidate.
2. Employees in thisclassification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Codeof Maryland Regulations 17.04.09 Testing for Illegal Use of .
3. Employees in thisclassification will be required to provide the employing barrack with atelephone number where they can be reached.
4. Candidates for this classification may be given a medicalexamination to determine their ability to perform the duties of the jobclassification.
SELECTION PROCESS
Only candidates who meetthe minimum qualifications will be considered for this it is essential that you provide complete and accurate informationon your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible Listcategorized as BEST QUALIFIED BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remaineligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees. The examination willconsist of a rating of your education training and experience related to therequirements of the position.
