Description

St. Olaf College invites applications for a fulltime oneyear position in the Film and Media Studies program at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August 2025 with the possibility of renewal up to three years.

Candidates must be able to teach multiple sections of an introductory course that covers foundational filmmaking audio and editing techniques as well as upperlevel courses that focus on narrative and documentary filmmaking. We are seeking candidates who can both introduce newcomers to the foundations of filmmaking and other forms of media storytelling and who can also teach more focused film and media production courses to advanced students. Must be able to teach intro to film and media studies. Experience teaching firstyear writing is a plus. Candidates who can support our efforts to promote environmental sustainability accessibility and diversity equity and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply. The teaching load is 6 courses.

Salary: $59000 $64000

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have experience and interest in teaching film and media production courses and have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Film or related areas.

The Film and Media Studies program serves a diverse group of undergraduates who study film analysis history and theory as well as film and media production. Outside the classroom students develop their knowledge and skills in affiliated clubs such as the St. Olaf Cinematheque and Film Production Society.
