Job Description
Required Education and Experience:
- Level 1.1 Bachelors degree in business or a related field. No experience required.
- Level 1.2 Bachelors degree in business or a related field and 1 year of related experience.
- Level 2.1 Bachelors degree in business or a related field and 2 years of related experience.
- Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 4 5 or 6 years of related experience.
This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.

Position Title: Budget Analyst Federal Program
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Budget Analyst Federal Program. This position performs tasks in support of the Departments federalaid highway program federal and project budgeting and federal fund obligation business processes. Works with FHWA federalaid regulations and funding scenarios and the MDT highway construction program. Creates and reviews requests for funding obligation categories and phases in projects and ensures all supporting documentation is received. This position is part of a career ladder with career advancement opportunities. This position reports to the Federal Funds Management Section Supervisor.
