Description

Position Overview:

Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students. Lecturer faculty performs instructionrelated duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the lecturer faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Teaches advises and mentors students evaluates student performance and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department college and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 128 fulltime and over 70 parttime faculty in 5 academic departments the School of Engineering and the School of Nursing. The College serves more than 3300 undergraduate students in 30 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology Computer Science Data Science Cybersecurity Applied Mathematics and Computer Science Applied Mathematical Science Engineering Physics Computational Science and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) the American Board of Funeral Service Education and the American Chemical Society. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach day/evening introductory mathematics or statistics courses such as Mathematics for General Education Applied Algebra Plane Trigonometry and Statistical Methods.

Experience Required:

Teaching and departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned masters degree awarded by a regionally accredited or international recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication problemsolving and organizational skills.

Experienced Preferred:

Teaching experience in mathematics or statistics is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.
