The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Medical Technologist to join the Molecular Diagnostics team. The Medical Technologist I processes a wide variety of samples using molecular diagnostic procedures to determine their pathogenic or genetic status. The Medical Technologist reports directly to the supervisor of the unit and indirectly to the director of the unit. They are also responsible for adhering to the laboratorys quality system.
The job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Employees working in the laboratory must receive the preexposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire which will be paid for by the department.

This position is 39 hours per week. While normal business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm specific schedules may change to meet the needs of the business requiring employees to work early mornings evenings weekends University holidays and scheduled breaks.

The Animal Health Diagnostic Center (AHDC) is a high visibility and highvolume veterinary diagnostic laboratory that promotes the health productivity and welfare of foodand fiberproducing animals companion animals and zoo and wildlife populations. Through its comprehensive veterinary diagnostic services the AHDC detects animal diseases and supports animal and public health promotes environmental stewardship and fosters economic growth.
The Molecular Diagnostic (MD) unit determines the pathogenic or genetic status of submitted samples using molecular techniques. The unit offers over 80 PCRbased tests appropriate for a wide variety of species and sample types. The unit also provides NAHLN testing and surveillance support for the Northeast as well as some Southern states and operates in compliance with both AAVLD and ISO 17025 standards.
