Job Description:

The Bud Shorstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Lecturer in Hebrew language instruction beginning August 16 2025. The position is a fulltime ninemonth renewable nontenureaccruing appointment at the rank of Lecturer with an opportunity for advancement in UFs Lecturer/Instructional Professor track.

The successful candidate will lead the Hebrew program in the Bud Shorstein Center for Jewish Studies which has a major and a minor program in Hebrew language and an undergraduate certificate program in Israel Studies. Teaching duties will include three courses per semester (fall and spring) including the oneyear Beginning Hebrew sequence the oneyear Intermediate Hebrew sequence and possibly courses on Israel conducted in Hebrew each semester. Administrative duties will consist of student recruitment for the Hebrew program the administering of language placement evaluations to see where incoming students should start and the advising of Hebrew major and minors.

The Bud Shorstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Florida was founded in 1973. It is one of the best Jewish Studies programs in the US. Its faculty is interdisciplinary teaching and researching in humanities and social science fields including literature film history political science and anthropology. The Isser and Rae Price Judaica Library is one of the best in the US with extensive materials in Hebrew including journals newspapers and other primary sources. Advertised Salary:

M.A. in Hebrew or a related pedagogical field by August 16 2025.
