JOB CONTEXT:

From February 2022 HI has reopened a Country Program in Ukraine to respond to the humanitarian needs triggered by the fullscale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. In 2025 HI pillars of interventions are:

The security situation in Ukraine remains relatively stable although air alert is frequently active. However markets restaurants and cafes are open and life continues as normal. There is a strict curfew the hours depend on the region. Most attacks by RF target energy structures mainly power grids and power plants resulting in planned or unplanned disruptions of electricity water heating and occasionally internet across the country.

HI has 3 hubs one in the East (based in Dnipro with a sub base in Poltava) one in the North East (based in Kharkiv) one in the South East (based in Mikolaiv) and the coordination office is in Kyiv. HI staff is accommodated in guesthouses or in hotels (during business trips) usually near HI offices restaurants cafes shopping centers within walking distance and near a shelter (the shelter is either in the building or easy to reach).

Movements between sites can be made by car (Hi drivers) or by train depending of the region and time.

The security situation in Kharkiv city and the entire oblast remains tense. The Eastern part of the oblast is the frontline. The whole Northern part of the oblast is the border with Russia with some occupied territories which form another frontline. The city of Kharkiv itself is located 35 km from the border with Russia and shelling is frequent in the city. The curfew in Kharkiv oblast is from 23:00 to 5:00.

HI currently hosts two international staff in Kharkiv accommodated in guesthouses. HI office warehouse guesthouses and any HIvalidated premises including hotels have shelter available inside the building (i.e. no need to go outside to reach it) or are directly located underground.

YOUR MISSION:

Under the responsibility of the Health Project Manager the Rehabilitation Technical Officer contributes to the implementation of Humanity & Inclusions mandate and 10year strategy. He/she contributes to the implementation of projects by providing technical expertise and ensuring that the quality and impact of the project is optimized. He/she works closely with the project manager and the programs technical team. He/she is responsible for the support and advice of a national rehabilitation officer and three physical therapists so that they properly complete their technical activities.

In this framework your main responsabilites will be:

Responsibility 1: Provides guidance and technical support to projects in accordance with the overall technical frameworks and standards within the rehabilitation sector.

Responsibility 2: Provides technical learning from projects.

Responsibility 3: Contributes to the animation of the rehabilitation sector.

Responsibility 4: Contributes to ensuring HIs technical inuence within its perimeter.



Requirements
  • You hold a degree in occupational therapy
  • You have at least 2 years of clinical experience and experience in emergency humanitarian settings
  • You have experience of a multidisciplinary approach
  • You have an experience in supervision and health science pedagogy
  • You know how to manage stress
  • You are responsive and flexible
  • You have strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • You are fluent in oral and written English

  • R&R: 5 days every 8 weeks
  • Position unaccompanied
  • Payment for travel costs (air ticket & visa) and transport of your personal effects;
  • Housing: Collective taken in charge by HI;
