Make a Difference: Become the Warden at Danville Correctional Center!

The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a dedicated and experienced leader to take on the role of Warden at the Danville Correctional Center. If you have a strong commitment to public safety rehabilitation and operational excellence this is your chance to lead with purpose and create a meaningful impact.

As Warden you will be responsible for managing the entire facilitys operationsfrom policy development and program oversight to budget management and ensuring the safety and security of both staff and individuals in custody. Your leadership will play a crucial role in shaping the future of correctional care rehabilitation and successful reentry.

Essential Functions

  • Formulates and implements rules regulations directives policies and procedures governing employee and individuals in custody.
  • Directs and evaluates program responsibility.
  • Plans and directs facility budget.
  • Consults with court officials law enforcement personnel and other agencies regarding care and custody of individuals in custody.
  • Serves as fullline supervisor.
  • Completes inspections of overall physical plant equipment and grounds for safety security sanitation efficiency maintenance and to ensure operational effectiveness of facility.
  • Travels to speak before civic groups and organizations to discuss programs of the facility and Department of Corrections.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four 4 years of college preferably with courses in law enforcement criminology penology or a related field.
  • Requires four 4 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement public or private organization a correctional facility or related field.

Employment Conditions

  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate valid drivers license.
  • Requires the ability to qualify with firearms within twelve months of start date and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws.
  • Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized by an employee regardless of position held is prohibited.
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act 5 ILCS 420/4A et seq. requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 1509 Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/545 apply to this position. As a result the employee should be aware that if offered non State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment the employee shall prior to accepting any such non State employment offer notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
