The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for an Educational Program Consultant II (Working Title: Instructional Designer) for our North Carolina Virtual Public School.
The North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) was established by the North Carolina General Assembly to supplement course offerings in public schools throughout the state of North Carolina. NCVPS is governed by the North Carolina State Board of Education (NCSBE) and reports to the Chief Academic Officer. As a result of the North Carolina Virtual Public Schools work students in the public schools of North Carolina will have access to elearning opportunities that are either unavailable due to teacher shortages small numbers of students needing the courses in a given school or scheduling conflicts. These elearning opportunities will provide students with equity of access to a highquality educational experience regardless of where they live within the state.
The Instructional Designer will design and develop engaging online courses for NCVPS using a systematic process dedicated to individualized student learning. This includes the creation of learning activities using media games animations text etc. This position ensures that NCVPS courses adhere to instructional design standards deemed the best for student learning in the online environment. This position serves as the primary development oversight and point of contact for Instructional Technology Specialists who build the online content and learning activities according to NCVPS instructional design standards. The Instructional Designer will work with NCVPS staff and teams of subject matter experts in order to ensure alignment with the NC Standard Course of Study. This position represents the state education agency at professional meetings state and national conferences and workshops related to planning and development. These and other duties as assigned are performed under the supervision of the Curriculum Director.

Masters degree in the education field to which assigned from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of specifically related experience in public education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
