Job Description

Position Overview

Position Summary:
The college of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to teach as a fulltime tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required. Review of applications will begin immediately; position will remain open until filled. Start date is August 2025.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 4/4 teaching load scholarship and service
  • Teaching load will include 1000 and 2000level foundational Spanish courses in addition to a variety of upperdivision courses Courses may be offered inperson hybrid or online
  • Serve the institution and remain active in the profession by maintaining a consistent record of scholarly research that includes publications and presentations in peerreviewed venues
  • Mentorship of student research

Minimum Job Requirements:

Ph.D in Spanish required (ABD considered)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ideal candidates will have a commitment to teaching excellence and a strong generalist academic background
  • Expertise in but not limited to one or more of the following fields: Latin American literature translation/interpretation Latin American culture and civilization
  • Second language acquisition and linguistics are a plus
  • Experience in online and/or hybrid settings and with study abroad programs is preferred

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects
