JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
This is a ninemonth tenuretrack position in agricultural teacher education at the assistant professor level with a 75 teaching and 25 research responsibility. Teaching expectations will be three courses per semester primarily in the Agricultural & Extension Education (AEE) undergraduate program with the rest in the Education Development & Community Engagement (EDCE) graduate program. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program focused on agricultural teacher education. The successful candidate will also be expected to secure external funding and to advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Penn State is home to the Center for Professional Personnel Development (CPPD) which uses funds from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to provide for the inservice and preservice professional development needs of schoolbased agricultural education in the Commonwealth. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join CPPD and to contribute to faculty leadership to its programs.
Qualifications: Doctorate in agricultural education or related field with experience in teacher professional development preferred. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date. Applicants should demonstrate excellent quantitative and communication skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. The ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty staff and students is required and the successful candidate will actively strive to provide an inclusive learning environment for all. Experience at the secondary school level teaching schoolbased agricultural education is preferred.
