Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3000 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). We are seeking a Data Engineer to join Project Kuipers ground infrastructure services team where youll develop scalable data pipelines APIs and tools that process geospatial data to guide critical network deployment decisions. In this role youll work with a collaborative team to transform complex spatial data into actionable insights that directly impact where and how we deploy ground infrastructure to maximize coverage for underserved communities worldwide.

About the team
Within ground infrastructure services our geospatial team provides the location intelligence foundation that guides Kuipers terrestrial infrastructure deployment. We transform complex spatial data into actionable insights helping teams determine where to build ground stations optimize coverage areas and plan network deployment. Through our datadriven solutions and analytical tools we enable informed decisionmaking for infrastructure investments across the globe. As we scale youll work with a collaborative team of geospatial experts to develop the next generation of tools and systems that support Kuipers expanding ground presence.
3 years of data engineering experience
Experience with data modeling warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python Java Scala or NodeJS
Experience as a data engineer or related specialty (e.g. software engineer business intelligence engineer data scientist) with a track record of manipulating processing and extracting value from large datasets
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle including coding standards software architectures code reviews source control management continuous deployments testing and operational excellence
Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift S3 AWS Glue EMR Kinesis FireHose Lambda and IAM roles and permissions
Experience with nonrelational databases / data stores (object storage document or keyvalue stores graph databases columnfamily databases)
Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop Hive Spark EMR
Experience with geospatial data processing and analysis
Knowledge of opensource geospatial tools (GDAL PostGIS Sedona)
Experience developing APIs and microservices

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
