Working Title: Lab Tech & Office Staff

Classification Title: Instructional Support Assistant II

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Chairs of the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) and Nutrition Food andDietetics (NUFD) Departments the Instructional Support Assistant (ISA) II is responsible for comprehensivesupport services for the FACS and NUFD Departments instructional programs. The ISA works closely with theDepartment Chairs Administrative Support Coordinators (ASC) II faculty and students in both departments to carryout the position responsibilities. Support services include local travel to secure supplies technical materials andequipment for laboratory and activity courses; coordinating routine maintenance and service of equipment;coordinating computer and instructional technology needs; and maintaining safe and sanitary instructional facilities.The ISAs responsibilities include coordinating equipment allocations and maintaining the budget for lab supplies andequipment including evaluating equipment and obtaining equipment specifications; maintaining supply andequipment inventories and maintenance schedules; submitting requisitions for supplies and equipment; and receivingstoring and inventorying these items.

The ISA II provides general office support to ASC IIs including reception duties. The ISA is the webmaster of thedepartments. The ISA carries out responsibilities in accordance with department college and university policies andprocedures.

FLSA:NonExempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3746 per month $3858 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range:$3746 per month $5881 per month

Department Information

The Family & Consumer Sciences Department provides knowledge and skills to enhance individuals families and communities wellbeing and quality of life.

Nutrition Food & Dietetics Department provides highquality experiential learning to diverse Sacramento State students so that they become empowered professionals in their community who lead disease prevention sustainability food access and health promotion for individuals families and communities.

Qualifications

Knowledges and Abilities:

Knowledge of the procedures and practices relating to providing support services. Knowledge of procedures and practices related to ordering issue and inventory. Ability to learn quickly the names uses and care of common types of materials supplies and equipment used in the instructional program to which assigned. Ability to plan organize and follow a schedule of activities. Ability to learn to operate equipment and to make adjustments. Ability to maintain records and project needs. Ability to correct and perform simple arithmetic calculations. Ability to read and write at a level suitable for performance on the job.

Experience:

Equivalent to one year of experience performing support services for an instructional program and involving such activities as preparing producing dispensing or storing materials supplies and equipment.

Equivalent to one year of experience in ordering purchasing accounting or in office work related to technical materials supplies or equipment or in an office which provided similar services to a technical function or unit maybe substituted for six months of the experience.

Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials. supplies or equipment and in a discipline in the specialty area to which assigned.

Required: Must be comparable to the Minimum Qualifications appropriate to the skill level of the position and would allow an incumbent to satisfactorily perform the Essential Functions of the position.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

1. Ability to use Common Management Systems (CMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

2. Ability to organize and maintain scheduled check out and return of equipment.

3. Ability to troubleshoot equipment operation and perform basic maintenance.

4. Willingness and ability to research and learn new equipment.

5. Ability to maintain and update an inventory of equipment

6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

7. Excellent communication skills.

8. Ability to work well with others including faculty staff and students.

9. Ability to work independently and work toward defined priorities.

10. Ability to travel to local vendors to procure materials and to service and/or repair equipment.

11. Commitment to working in an environment which promotes diversity equity and inclusion at all levels of the organization.
