We are looking for a Software Development Manager with a passion for industrial software and control systems. You will guide a team of talented engineers to transform the way we integrate robotics within our global network of advanced warehouses. This position is a unique opportunity to be involved in a wide range of automation projects right from the start. You will work with multiple internal Amazon R&D and design teams as well as automation strategic partners who have the technology and resources to meet Amazons growth needs on a global scale.
This role is in a newly established team which will create edge compute solutions for industrial automation applications. It is an earlystage initiative with a fast paced startup like environment inside Amazon so to be successful you need to be flexible and entrepreneurial. You are a true owner you are hands on and you set the example. You and your team will be working on all the aspects of the software development cycle including scoping design implementation testing and delivery of your product. This is a unique opportunity to define edgebased solutions where the cloud meets the real world in the heart of our fulfillment centers. The ideal candidate will enjoy working at multiple layers of the stack from the lowlevel machine controls layer up through embedded Linux applications and cloudbased solutions to interface with and manage fleets of realworld devices.

Mentor a team of software and system development engineers
Foster a highperforming team environment providing guidance and assistance to your engineers to help them achieve their full potential
Work closely with product management and stakeholders to define the technical roadmap ensuring alignment with overall business goals
Oversee the entire software development lifecycle from requirement gathering and design to development testing and deployment
Drive the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies within your team promoting continuous improvement and innovation
Work effectively with product managers designers QA testers and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of features
Clearly communicate technical choices and progress to both technical and nontechnical audiences

3 years of engineering team management experience
7 years of engineering experience
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
Experience with the CODESYS integrated development environment
Experience solving problems utilizing Amazon Web Services
Experience with multiple Industrial Control System platforms (IEC 611313 such as Allen Bradley Siemens Mitsubishi Beckhoff Fanuc or other
Experience in building robotic or industrial automation related products

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
