About the role

Imaging is a cornerstone technology underpinning science at the Crick and the BioImage Analysis Trainer will be an integral member of the Image Analysis Group reporting directly to the Image Analysis Lead (Deputy Head of CALM). In addition to delivering foundational training and support the role will offer personalised oneonone coaching for selected research projects working closely with Crick Research Groups (CRGs) to ensure effective collaboration and successful project outcomes. The role offers an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to focus on delivering scientific training within a dedicated and supportive team.

What you will be doing

As a BioImage Analysis Trainer at the Crick you will:

  • Equip Crick Research Groups (CRGs) with the necessary expertise to rigorously and efficiently extract quantitative data from images.

  • Provide training on both the image analysis software and the computational environments (such as HPC) for CRGs operation

  • Instructing microscopy users on theoretical concepts of image analysis and guiding them through practical image analysis tasks.

  • Offering support and training to help users write and modify basic scripts (e.g. in FIJI or Python) for automating and ensuring the reproducibility of image analysis tasks.

About you

You will bring

  • A PhD in a physical or life science.

  • Proficiency in programming with a mainstream language such as Java C or Python.

  • Extensive experience in training and/or teaching particularly in technical handson/live coding workshops.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing automated image analysis workflows using tools like FIJI CellProfiler Ilastik or similar.

  • Strong adherence to good software engineering practices (e.g. version control documentation).
