Position Summary
Under the direction of the Senior AVP of Student Health Counseling & Wellness Services (SHCWS) the Health Communications Specialist will be responsible for strategic public health communication campuswide public health campaigns and marketing strategies for SHCWS to enhance the value of health and wellness as an essential component of student success and retention. This position will be responsible for promoting a positive department image by collaborating with SHCWS staff and leadership and other University departments in the initiation coordination implementation and evaluation of strategic public health communications to proactively communicate the mission vision and services to enhance student health and wellness. This individual will assist the Senior Associate Vice President for SHCWS with report writing proposal and presentation development to create engaging public health communications that are relevant to health of the campus and external community.
FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4985 per month $5820 per month
CSU Classification Salary Range:$4842 per month $8759 per month

Student Health Counseling & Wellness Services (SHCWS) embraces a holistic and collaborative approach to healthcare by offering urgent care primary care preventative services wellness education violence support services and mental health services to the Sacramento State campus community. SHCWS is committed to providing quality care and service delivery and is accredited through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

Entry to the first level within this classification requires knowledge of the fundamentals of public affairs and/or media relations and/or some exposure to marketing and marketing research. This background normally is obtained through a college degree which includes relevant coursework in the field and up to two years of related professional or technical experience. In addition strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar spelling and the composition of various communication vehicles are essential to initial entry to this classification.
