Job Description

Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. MSP builds and operates software hardware and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory employ tens of thousands of people and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised we would get it to them.
We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well while relying on people to handle things that humans do well. MSP Pack and Ship team builds and maintains core software and services in Amazon Fulfillment Centers that help pack items into packages and ship them to our customers worldwide. A successful candidate must be able to:
* Leading highly talented technology teams responsible for building and owning complex services.
* Lead the effective and efficient delivery of the large complex projects..
* Develop and maintain a culture of innovation and operational efficiency in the team.
* Influence collaborate and communicate effectively with various leaders in Amazon.
* Hiring growing and retaining a strong team keeping with the Amazon high bar.
* Anticipate bottlenecks provide escalation management anticipate and make tradeoffs and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
* Maximize resources for the greater good of the organization.
* Identify assess track and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels.
* Drive effective teamwork communication collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.

3 years of engineering team management experience
7 years of engineering experience
8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
