Who are we Our office manages and oversees the licensing and regulation of a variety of practicing professionals. This position is under a healthcare providers/practitioners division overseeing about six health boards and program. As a member of our team you will manage and perform highly complex work perform duties and responsibilities associated with the interstate licensing compacts for physical therapy which is designed to help increase physical therapy services to Maine citizens through the licensing compact privilege authorized by the national physical therapist compact commission. Specific responsibilities include customer service information management systems evaluating complex educational and practice experience national examination passage practice compliance preparing and conducting studies summarizing findings preparing reports and recommending changes in programs policies procedures and information management systems. You will examine and review legal documents associated with State and Federal criminal background checks and such reports related to discipline imposed by other jurisdictions. This position will also be responsible for prioritizing managing and participating in jointinvestigations with other states related to individuals licensed in Maine and those who hold PT compact privileges and for tracking complaint case management and other projects. You will also provide any administrative and regulatory support for a number of other boards and program related to licensing complaint management board meetings and other necessary support.
Primary responsibilities include:
Perform highly complex work duties and responsibilities associated with joining and maintaining compliance with regulations established by and associated with the interstate licensing compact for physical therapy through the licensing compact privilege authorized by the compact commission. Manage all aspects and process involved with licensing applications for professionals and entities based on applicable laws and rules including decisions related to eligibility determinations state and federal criminal background checks. May be required to attend inperson and/or virtually commissioner meetings and joint investigation meetings with other states as it relates to individuals who hold privilege compact authorizations. Provide administrative licensing regulatory and any other work necessary to support the heavy workload of other professionals health boards and program within the division. Plan and prepare board meetings hearings and other events which include preparation of agendas minutes and document compilation and dissemination and develop and deliver informational presentations at meetings workshops and other events in order to explain department programs and policies. Manage and coordinate complaint case management and enforcement actions and outcome reports Write complex communications and technical reports addressing identified problems and corrective actions and prepare a variety of official documents associated with licensing and compliance. Examine interpret and explain regulatory laws and rules.
Skills or knowledge required:
Knowledge of laws rules regulations and fundamental coordination. Knowledge and understanding of the function and operation of currently available technology and applications. Knowledge of professional licensing systems around health care and allied health care professions and health services systems or other types of professional licensing professions. Ability to establish communication effectively with professional practitioners and businesses regulators enforcement officials attorneys. Ability to develop organize and complete planning and research projects and manage several projects at once including board meetings and adjudicatory hearings. Ability to examine interpret and explain complex regulatory laws rules and procedures. Ability to write and develop clear and concise communications and complex reports. Ability to manage several projects concurrently effectively and maximize workflow efficiencies and time management.
Minimum qualifications:
A Bachelors Degree in Public/Community Health Health Administration Health Sciences or Health Education; Public Administration Government Social Work or a closely related field and three 3 years professional experience in the planning development coordination and/or evaluation of health programs or services OR an equivalent seven 7 year combination of education training and experience.
