Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide lowlatency highspeed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Key job responsibilities Contribute to the design and analysis of distributed software systems. Contribute to the overall design of the Kuiper command and control system. Developing cloud native software systems in Java Rust or Python. Utilize AWS and other services to build highly available and performant services. Be part of the 24x7 operational rotation to support satellite operations.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life You will be building the infrastructure and services required to reliably process and downlink telemetry from the constellation of satellites. Telemetry is a critical component of all missions phases and key to safely operating the constellation. You will design services with a focus on security and reliability. Your work will interface with various subsystems within Project Kuiper and Amazon to enable engineers to safely and efficiently operate the the satellite constellation and its supporting ground infrastructure.
About the team Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service
The Telemetry team owns the onvehicle software responsible for ingesting telemetry downlinking telemetry and processing it groundside.
This team will drive the design development deployment and operation of a critical mission system for the Kuiper constellation from endtoend. This includes the agent software which interfaces with all hardware subsystems onvehicle and downlinking. Once the telemetry is groundside the team also owns processing that telemetry publishing it in real time to mission operators and supporting monitoring/alerting for offnominal situations.
