The duties of the Histotechnician consist of but are not limited to:
1 preparation of specimens for microscopic evaluation by the Pathologist through the use of a microtomy special staining histochemistry and other appropriate techniques in accordance with the Pathology policy and procedures
2 must be versed in a range of procedures including processing cutting embedding of all types of tissue and body fluid samples
3 the performance of routine and special staining procedures
4 knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures if applicable to job duties
5 use and maintenance of histology equipment
6 maintenance of manuals logs and files appropriate to the department
7 other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director
