We are currently looking to recruit into Compound Management a delivery focused team where we collaborate to support projects aiming to impact patients lives. We are responsible for the storage and timely provision of chemical compounds to AstraZenecas drug discovery projects. We belong in Discovery Sciences our wider function that applies deep technical expertise in specialist technologies to support the delivery of targets and molecules to the early AstraZeneca pipeline.

This is a labbased leadership role in which you will work in a dynamic environment contributing to highimpact drug discovery projects. We are looking for someone with expertise in drug discovery and innovative thinking with the ability and enthusiasm to apply this to the Compound Management environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Bring expert scientific influence into Hit Discovery projects developing and implementing strategic initiatives

  • Provide labbased leadership to ensure highquality support to projects within a fastpaced environment

  • Work with external partners to develop next generation solutions for the Compound Management laboratories of the future

  • Operate advanced automation platforms and technologies to supply research compounds in varied formats to meet drug discovery needs locally and globally

  • Develop productive relationships with diverse science and capability teams

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • A Ph.D. or . with equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. chemistry biology)

  • 5 years of relevant labbased experience in a scientific setting

  • Drug discovery process and assay knowledge

  • Talent for developing automation and integrated systems within a labbased environment

  • Developed impactful solutions to science or technology challenges through innovative thinking and collaboration

  • Excellent communication teamwork and mentoring skills

Desirable skills/Experience:

  • Experience in compound management or related fields

  • Experience working with global teams and building external partnerships

  • Knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in compound management and/or laboratory automation

  • Established successful multidisciplinary initiatives

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles
