Job Description

Job Title: Firefighter / EMTB
Department: Inplant
Reports to: Captain
Position Summary: Responds to fire medical rescue and hazardous materials incidents during clients emergencies. Conducts and receives emergency response training performs inspections and preventative maintenance on emergency response equipment and fire protection systems within clients facilities and provide rescue standby services.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Respond to fires and a variety of emergencies including hazardous materials incidents rescues natural disasters and other emergency situations; suppresses and extinguishes fires and performs related life and property protection
  • Identifies isolates and contains hazardous materials in a safe and effective manner
  • Drives emergency vehicles as needed and operates related apparatus to respond to emergency calls
  • Administering basic first aid and medical support in accordance with federal state local and company policy and regulations
  • Assessing the nature and extent of injuries/illnesses to prioritize medical procedures
  • Effectively communicating with client and site personnel regarding any worksite incidents hazards etc.
  • Demonstrating a strong orientation towards teamwork and the ability to understand the importance of team coordinated efforts
  • Demonstrating a strong ability to be aware of the constantly changing worksite environment and construction site hazards
  • Ensuring that quality clinical standards are practiced at all times
  • Assists in completing and maintaining records related to personnel incidents and/or other related items
  • Assisting the Site Safety Managers and Personnel in maintaining the most safe and secure work environment possible
  • Participates in ongoing training and education sessions
  • Ensures the proper condition maintenance and appearance of apparatus and equipment; prepares and ensures vehicles and apparatus are ready for immediate response
  • Participates in the daily functions of the station duties which may include: housekeeping maintenance activities and/or performing other related duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Paramedic (EMTP) State Certification and/or National Registry; must provide proof of reciprocity (Preferred)
  • Firefighter I (minimum requirement) Firefighter II (preferred) State Certified
  • EMTB (minimum requirement)
  • Flexible schedule: Days Nights Weekend availability required
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification; Any additional certifications are a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with client and employees
Employment Requirements:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older insurability requirements
  • Background Check

  • PreEmployment DOT Physical / Postemployment DOT Physical (frequency determined by expiration of medical certificate)
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk stoop and bend. Uses hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to kneel crouch climb or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Combination of office and production environments. Routine exposures to significant levels of heat cold moisture and air pollution are possible/probable. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts bruises and minor burns.
