The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans population of Louisiana through the provision of medical restorative and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
This position is located in the Nursing Department of the NW LA Veterans Home in Bossier City Louisiana. The position may be filled as a (WAE) Temporary Parttime appointment OR as a Probational Appointment. The shifts are 12 hours..

THE PAY INFORMATION FOR THE POSITION IS AS FOLLOWS:
LPN1: $23.48/HR PER HOUR WORKED
(Special Entrance Rate $19.48 $4.00 Premium Pay)
LPN 2: $24.84/HR PER HOUR WORKED
(Special Entrance Rate $20.84 $4.00 Premium Pay)LPN 3: $26.30/HR PER HOUR WORKED
(Special Entrance Rate $22.30 $4.00 Premium Pay)

SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS(PER HOUR PHYSICALLY WORKED ON):
1ST SHIFT (WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS): $2.00
2ND SHIFT: $2.003RD SHIFT: $2.00

To provide basic nursing care to patients/clients in stable conditions and in predictable situations in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act.
Level of Work:
Entry.
Supervision Received:
Close from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.
Supervision Exercised:
May exercise functional supervision over paraprofessional nursing personnel.
Location of Work:
Statewidehealth care facilities; correctional facilities.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Practical NurseLicensed 2 by the absence of journeyman level assignments and independent performance of duties.
Implements selective aspects of the nursing care plan i.e. comfort hygiene safety measures nutrition etc. under progressively more generalized supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.
Observes patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and reports significant changes.
Obtains specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.
Takes vital signs including temperature pulse respiration and blood pressure.
Administers medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.
Transcribes physicians orders and records medication and patients condition on patients charts and other records.
Receives and gives change of shift reports.
Requests stock medications and supplies as assigned.
Administers CPR in emergency situations.
Admits transfers and discharges patients.
Gathers information about patients past and current physical and mental status.
May administer oral and parenteral medication as prescribed by the physician and documents procedure.
Applies dressings ointments and other treatments as ordered and documents procedure.
Assists physicians with routine examinations and treatments.
Bathes feeds and makes patients comfortable.
Performs individual and group health teaching as assigned.
